Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
Bosun is a personal, self-hosted household assistant operated by Kyle Mello. This policy describes the data used by Bosun and its Google Calendar integration. Contact: waverlymello@gmail.com.
Information accessed
When you authorize Google Calendar access, Bosun may access calendar identifiers and names and event details such as titles, dates, times, descriptions, locations, and participants, within the permissions you grant. OAuth access and refresh tokens allow Bosun to use that authorization without storing your Google password.
Voice features process recordings, transcripts, room and device identifiers, and request identifiers. Service logs may contain operational information and content needed to diagnose requests. The public website’s server may log requests, including IP addresses, timestamps, and browser information.
How information is used
Calendar information is used to display household schedules, answer appointment questions, and perform event changes when that feature is enabled, authorized, and requested. Voice and device information is used to interpret commands, route responses and announcements, and troubleshoot the system. Website request logs are used for operation and security.
Storage and retention
Bosun’s core services run on infrastructure controlled by its operator, including local household servers and, where needed, an operator-controlled cloud server. Tokens, recordings, generated audio, cached data, and logs may persist until removed by the operator; automated deletion periods are not currently guaranteed. Access to stored information is intended to be limited to authorized users and administrators.
Sharing and optional cloud AI
Bosun does not sell personal information or use Google Calendar data for advertising. Google receives API requests required for the calendar integration. Hosting providers may process infrastructure data required to run hosted components.
Bosun supports optional cloud AI providers. When you explicitly request one, the prompt and necessary request context are sent to that provider. Avoid including private calendar details in those requests unless you intend to share them with the selected provider. Bosun does not use Google API data to develop, improve, or train generalized AI or machine-learning models. Cloud services are also governed by their own privacy policies.
Google API Limited Use
Bosun’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Your choices and deletion
Connecting a Google account is optional. You can revoke Bosun’s access through your Google Account’s third-party connections settings. Revoking access stops future authorized access but does not automatically delete information already stored by Bosun.
To request removal of stored calendar information, credentials, recordings, or transcripts, contact the operator at waverlymello@gmail.com. The operator can remove stored copies under their control and identify any relevant backup retention. Information held by Google or other providers must be managed through those providers.
Household and children’s information
Bosun is intended for its operator’s household, including use supervised by parents. It does not offer public registration or knowingly solicit accounts from children outside that household. Parents control the household’s connected accounts and devices.
Policy changes
This policy may change as Bosun’s features change. The updated policy and effective date will appear on this page.
